Yes, "strong" is a word we writers love to be applied to our work. But how can you be rejected from a contest?

Oops, typo in Dickinson.
I guess you're right. Technically, one isn't rejected from a contest; one just loses. But the upshot is that the manuscript isn't accepted for publication, so I lump it in the rejections category.
Oh....Joannie....we poets certainly know how to make a tiny compliment go a looooooooong, long way!
